The Freedom Bell is located just in front of Union Station on Columbus Circle. It weighs 8 tons and is seven feet in width and seven feet five inches tall. The bell was conceived as a bicentennial gift by the American Freedom Train Foundation. The American Legion erected the bell on behalf of the children of America. It was dedicated on July 22, 1981.
